How much does screenplay translation cost?
A screenplay translation price only makes sense alongside its scope: the script's length, language pair, deliverables and review included. An automated draft, a human translation and a translation followed by editorial review are different purchases.
For INTERCUT, the published package prices checked on 5 October 2026 are:
| Package | Published price, USD | Published scope |
|---|---|---|
| Short | $20 | One script up to 40 pages |
| Feature | $75 | One script up to 120 pages |
| Series | $399 | Six episodes; see pricing for episode limits and terms |
These are the published package amounts, not an individual checkout quote. Confirm current limits, optional extras and tax treatment on the pricing page and at checkout. Standard self-service translation is AI-assisted; a separately quoted human review is not included by default.

Compare what you receive
| Approach | Main buying question |
|---|---|
| Screenplay-specific AI tool | Which file types, review tools and exports are included? |
| Human screenplay translation | Who translates the script, and what editorial and format work does the quote cover? |
| AI draft plus human review | How extensive is the review, and who resolves disputed creative choices? |
This is a purchasing framework, not a quality ranking. A tool's price does not establish whether it will handle your particular script well.
Why quotes differ
Length and billing unit. A provider may price by word, page, project or episode. Find out how pages are counted and whether title pages, appended material or later revisions affect the charge.
Language and register. The requirements of an English reading translation may differ from those of dialogue intended to be performed in a particular dialect. Describe the reader and purpose of the translation when requesting a quote.
File and delivery work. Ask whether the quote covers editable screenplay files, reading PDFs, glossary work, bilingual comparison or only translated text. Check special elements such as dual dialogue and revision marks if your project uses them.
Review and revisions. A human pass can mean a limited check or a complete reading against the source. Ask what is examined, how corrections are supplied and how many rounds are included.
Deadline. Check whether your delivery date can be met and whether urgent work changes the quote. Do not infer a turnaround guarantee from a tool's demo or an estimate for a shorter script.
A current comparison point
Story Department's public pricing page, checked on 5 October 2026, lists a $59 project fee, FDX input/output and repeated translation or calibration passes within the project. That is a vendor-described offer, not an independent test of quality or an equivalent-scope comparison with INTERCUT.
Compare the actual input formats, length limits, language scope, review workflow and project terms before choosing. A lower price can suit your project; it can also leave work outside the quoted scope. A higher price still needs a clear explanation of what it includes.
Budget for the review your reader needs
For an early development read, you may want a working translation that lets collaborators discuss the story. For a funding submission or a sensitive producer read, you may decide to commission a complete bilingual editorial review.
That is a project decision. Use a sample, describe the script's difficult passages and agree on the delivery standard. Do not treat an AI quality score or the existence of a human reviewer as a guarantee that every creative choice is right.
Ask these questions before paying
- Is this the price for my full source draft and target language?
- What file formats and page limits does it cover?
- What review is included, and what costs extra?
- How are later changes to the source handled?
- What happens if the export needs correction?
- What processing and confidentiality terms apply?
- What is the final amount payable, including applicable taxes or selected extras?
